We are located at 640 Ball Street in New Smyrna, close to Wayne Avenue. Sunday and Wednesday services each last about an hour and consist of music, singing, scriptural readings, prayer, and a sermon.
Two readers, elected from the membership, read a weekly Lesson Sermon that is outlined in the Christian Science Quarterly for all to study during the preceding week. The same lesson is read in all Christian Science Churches and Societies throughout the world. Sunday School is available at the same time for children up to the age of 21.
Christian Science was discovered in 1866 by Mary Baker Eddy in Lynn, MA, following a healing she experienced as the result of prayer and the study of the Bible. She then dedicated herself to finding the principle behind the healing. She immersed herself in the study of the Bible, wrote voluminously of her insights and healed many others by applying what she was learning. She published the first version of our textbook, Science and Health, with Key to the Scriptures in 1875.
